WP4 Kick off Meeting – Engineering Design for the Auxiliary Systems

All partners met on 19th October in order to discuss and present the objective of this WP in order to ensure effective workflow of the engineering design process regarding the auxiliary systems required for the integration of an ammonia storage system on-board and efficient interaction with other WPs. The specific objectives are:

• Development of the concept and basic design package for the auxiliary systems with respect to the use of ammonia as fuel on-board a merchant vessel.

• Development of the production with detailed design package of suitable modular storage system for handling ammonia as fuel on-board a merchant ship. This leads to the documentation required for the construction of the demonstration within WP5 or for future installation works.

• Assessment of the requirements set forth by the technology development of the internal combustion engine design for handling ammonia as fuel, and incorporation of the relevant design parameters in the engineering design process for the auxiliary systems.

• Development of design for auxiliary systems used for desktop studies other than the demonstrator vessel (desktop studies).

• Development of realistic modular solutions which will allow bespoke and feasible scalable application in different conditions and environment.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation program under Grant Agreement no. 101056831.
