Task 10.1: Life Cycle Assessment of NH3CRAFT solutions

In this task we will evaluate the environmental impact of NH3CRAFT solutions, the demonstrators and the desktop studies for both traditional and composite storage tank solutions, taking cognisance of the environmental related KPIs in T2.4.

The Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) analysis will holistically investigate the currently most concerned environmental issues including CO2, SOX, NOX and PM. The scope of the LCA will cover all the activities from cradle to grave of the ships and storage tanks to identify the concerned pollutants from WP3, WP4, WP5, WP6 & WP8.

The pollutants will be quantified so that a Life Cycle Emission Inventory (LCI) is eventually developed. Applying Life Cycle Assessment methods (CML, ReCiPe and ILCD etc.), the impacts of the pollutants in the LCI will be determined and summarised in the selected environmental impact categories such as Global Warming Potential (GWP), Acidification Potential (AP) etc.

A sensitivity analysis will be conducted to find out the influence of parameters change on the LCA outcomes. An uncertainty treatment will be carried out to present the confidence levels of the data collection. The results of this task will support the development of exploitation plan in T11.1 and provide inputs to the KPIs based evaluation in T10.4.
