RINA consists of the parent company RINA S.p.A., holding which controls the main sub-holdings RINA Services S.p.A. (RINA-S), and RINA Consulting S.p.A. (RINA-C).
RINA-S is the RINA operating company providing a wide range of services, such as testing, certification, quality control, expediting and third-party inspection. Ship classification has been at the core of the RINA business since its inception. RINA is a founding member of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) and today it is one of the top-ranking marine classification societies in the world. The RINA fleet is recognized by 116 international flag authorities.
RINA-S contributes to the goal of achieving carbon neutrality in the maritime sector by 2050, focusing on alternative fuels, carbon capture and renewable energies in the shipping sector. RINA-S provides tailored advisory services for shipyards and shipowners, particularly in complex areas relating to sustainability, environmental regulations and digital technologies. Furthermore, RINA-S promotes a green approach to the marine industry with a strong commitment to energy saving, emissions reductions and optimisation of fuel consumption.
Therefore, NH3CRAFT project is aligned with RINA-S’s efforts towards decarbonisation of the maritime sector. The Project and Consortium will benefit from RINA-S’s extensive knowledge of the maritime International Regulatory and Standards Framework. Finally, the certification will help the efforts in promoting ammonia as a marine fuel.
