NH3CRAFT Project: Key Highlights from the 4th General Assembly Meeting in Genoa, Italy

The NH3CRAFT consortium convened in Genoa, Italy, for the 4th General Assembly Meeting on December 11–12, 2024. Hosted by RINA, this pivotal meeting brought together representatives from all partners to discuss the project’s progress, upcoming milestones, and strategic goals as we are getting closer to the end of the project.

During the meeting, the consortium discussed and concluded with the final dates for the final demonstration and final event/workshop. More specifically, the demonstration will take place from May 12 to May 14, 2025, at EKME premises in Thessaloniki, Greece. This event will involve validating system operations, inspecting system components, and performing all planned demonstration scenarios. The final event/workshop, scheduled for May 15, 2025, in Athens, Greece, will feature project presentations, virtual demonstrations of key results, and panel discussion panels with stakeholders from the maritime industry. EU officials will also present their perspectives on the application of ammonia as fuel and potential exploitation opportunities for alternative fuels.

The consortium reviewed progress across multiple work packages, including advancements in manufacturing and testing, operational procedures, and the techno-commercial assessment of NH3CRAFT solutions. A dedicated demonstration team will be formed to ensure the smooth execution of the final demonstration and the required scenarios, with plans to finalize key deliverables by January 2025.

The meeting also addressed dissemination and exploitation activities, highlighting plans to enhance the visibility and application of NH3CRAFT’s innovations across related projects and future publication intentions.

The NH3CRAFT project continues to advance sustainable and safe ammonia-fueled maritime solutions, with a strong focus on innovation and collaboration. The consortium remains committed to pushing the boundaries of maritime technology and fostering cross-sectoral synergies.
