In Task 4.2, Deliverable D4.2 includes the basic and detailed design for the Demonstrator vessel. The updated drawings to reflect the FEED level, have been evaluated from qualitative aspects. More specifically, a Hazard and Operability analysis (HAZOP) workshop has been conducted, leading to improvements and recommendations on the design of the auxiliary systems in terms of safety-related aspects.
The major design aspects identified during the workshop as important for further actions are the necessity for a dedicated ammonia bilge systems (from ammonia bunker, fuel preparation room etc.) and the avoidance of leading the ammonia vapours to the ventilation mast directly (vapours shall be led through the ammonia catch system to the ventilation mast).
This deliverable is on-going, with the expected future key milestones to entail the findings of the Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) which is expected to lead to the final stage of the drawings’ revision process. Once the drawings have been enhanced from qualitative safety aspects (HAZOP and FMEA), the deliverable will be submitted at the relevant EU portal, while at the same time the drawings will be send to ABS for the review process under deliverable D4.3.
