Finalizing Basic & Detailed Engineering Design for Demonstrator Hull-Integrated Tank Storage Systems – Task 3.2

In this task the basic and detailed design (equivalent to FEED) for the demonstrator vessel has been concluded. The tank outline and engineering design has been updated and concluded in accordance with the findings of the three safety workshops (HAZID, HAZOP and FMEA) which have taken place in three independent sessions. All relevant aspects of the tank containment system detailed design are summarized below:
– Structural assessment of the tank containment system, including finite element analysis, load cases description, relevant sloshing calculations and fatigue analysis.
– Materials selection and evaluation process for both metallic and composite tanks including the material properties.
– The relevant tank particulars, arrangement, outfitting, insulation, tank inspection details, structural health monitoring and relevant required auxiliary fittings.
– The principal calculations (Boil Off Rate, Tank Holding Time, and Loading Limit Curve, etc.) have been performed for the detailed tank containment arrangements of the tanks.
The final list of documents/drawings of the engineering design process has been submitted, reviewed and approved by ABS Classification Society. This extensive examination of the documents eventually leads to the Design review report (deliverable D3.3) and finally will be part of the statement of the maturity level of this New Technology Qualification (NTQ issuance in deliverable D9.1).
