Final outputs of the Concept Engineering Design Process for the Demonstrator hull integrated Tank Storage Systems

The objective of the concluded task 3.1 was to achieve the determination of the concept design of the demonstrator vessel tank storage system. Demonstrator tank storage system is determined and the frame of the design conditions of Ammonia tanks in full compliance is set with the current guidelines and regulations.

More specifically, the main tasks that have been concluded can be listed below:

• Determination of Tanks number, type, capacity, and nozzle connections per tank.

• Demonstrator’s basic concept lay out and effect of the tank storage system on the vessel’s stability.

• Calculation of Boil Off Rate, Tank Holding Time calculation and Loading Limit Curve.

• Definition of tanks loads, design conditions and loads scenarios.

• Ammonia tanks basic design data.

• Material requirements for steel and composite tanks.

• Design Methods for steel and composite tanks.

The deliverable that was produced is in accordance with the regulatory framework and the safety requirements that have been developed in Work Packages (WP2 and WP7), while the outcomes are provided in a frame of text, drawings, conceptual calculations, and data sheets. The Classification Societies were assigned as the report reviewers in order to perform an initial check-up of the concept findings and their compliance with the currently available regulatory suggestions and requirements.
