The desktop study cases for the auxiliaries system have been concluded with the expedition of the final report. The purpose of this document is to examine the auxiliary systems of the desktop studies at a basic design engineering stage that will enable the use of ammonia as fuel. This specific report takes into account the following deliverables:
- D2.2 “Specification of desktop studies”,
- D4.1 “Basic layout concept report for the demonstrator auxiliary systems” and
- D4.2 “Basic and Detailed engineering design for the demonstrator auxiliary systems”
This report performs the necessary calculations, relevant components selection together with the required risk and safety related scenarios per desktop study case within WP7. Moreover, the relevant findings of D4.3 “Design review report for the demonstrator auxiliary systems” have already been considered in the production of the relevant drawings.
Through this study, there are included, as additional features, the use of re-liquefaction system and fuel cells, specific ship’s particulars details and service/operating factors of each vessel preserving its operational characteristics. More specifically, the capacity of the storage tanks and as a result their operational profile coverage are considered as main factors in an approach based on the auxiliary systems and how these auxiliaries are designed. For instance, whether an NH3 tank is of type-C / prismatic or it is located on the upper deck or inside the cargo hold, the main characteristics of the auxiliary systems remain unchanged.
