Enhancing occupational and social health and safety – Task 7.6

In this task we aim to promote public awareness of potential hazards associated with handling of toxic and hazardous substances and knowledge of how to react to accidental hazardous material release, fire and explosions through various communication channels to potential stakeholders.

This will be done by:

  • Quantifying the risk impact of ammonia and general observation as marine fuel in terms of social costs/benefits and suggestion of policy actions to support the implementation of ammonia for regulations, incentives, and education for occupational and social health and safety;
  • Developing a manual/guidelines for on-board training and education of potential ship crew and workers at ports, including a manual for emergency response plan for mitigating incidents related to ammonia leakage emergency response implementation plan.
