During the detailed design stage, the concept design for the demonstrator’s auxiliary systems that will enable the handling and use of ammonia as fuel developed during the concept engineering process of Task 4.1, will be finalized (materials selection, pipes calculations, components dimensioning, particulars specification) and concluded up to the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) level. The design of the auxiliary systems will be reviewed qualitative and quantitative by the Risk Assessment partners from safety perspectives in consideration of layout hazards (toxicity, deterioration, equipment failure & human errors). A simulation model of the auxiliary will also be developed for the evaluation of the system’s performance. The report including the results of the detailed and production engineering for all aspects apart from the containment storage, including piping, safety, electrical, control, automation, bunkering systems, operational specifications and equipment list will be compiled and delivered to the participating Classification Societies for review and approval.
