There is a benefit for the environment, as ammonia can fit the zero-emission strategy and meet the zero-emission target of the marine sector. Compared to traditional fossil fuels, no CO2 and SOx emissions are generated.
The benefit for CSM is that the NH3CRAFT Consortium represents a multidisciplinary group composed of 12 partners from 6 countries within the European Union, including CSM, ABS, RINA, HYDRUS, and more. Through this commitment, CSM will gain knowledge and expertise in Ammonia, therefore being able to assist existing clients on how to use and store large quantities of NH3 on board as well as attract future clients who will be interested in using this alternative fuel.
Last but not least the benefit for Clients is that CSM will be able to offer our expertise and knowledge to Clients and assist them on how to use/store Ammonia on board. Ammonia will allow Clients to reduce their fleet’s environmental footprint, it needs less space for the same energy content and current market prices are more competitive, it can be easily stored in liquid form (-33°C at atmospheric pressure) and from an industry point of view, ammonia is more mature for use as a marine fuel. Additionally, Clients will receive added value through CSM’s partnerships in the NH3CRAFT Consortium.
